Kuala Lumpur compared: which tower, is it boring, and Batu Caves done right
KL Tower, Petronas or Merdeka 118 — which tower do you actually pay for?
You cannot photograph the Twin Towers from inside the Twin Towers, which is why KL Tower’s open-air Sky Terrace is the better camera and Petronas is the better building. Merdeka 118 is taller than both and nobody can confirm its deck is selling tickets. All three priced side by side, with the MyKad rate exposed.
Is Kuala Lumpur boring, or are you doing it wrong?

Batu Caves — free at 07:30, or a guided half-day at 11:00?
The Temple Cave costs nothing and the KTM Komuter from KL Sentral is RM2.60 each way, so no tour here is buying you access — only a driver and a narration. Go at 07:30, before the heat, the coaches and the monkeys, and the whole morning costs about the price of a coffee.

A five-star room in the middle of Kuala Lumpur costs roughly what a mid-range one costs in Bangkok, and about 4,600 new rooms — some 60% of them luxury — land between 2026 and 2028 on a 70,000-room base. That supply wave is about to push real prices down further. The catch is location: “Kuala Lumpur” on a booking page can mean a tower in Cheras with no train, and “near LRT” routinely means a 25-minute uphill walk with no pavement.
